Dartmoor National Park’s three visitor centres reopen this week with Covid-secure measures to help keep people safe.
Postbridge and Princetown open on Wednesday (December 2) with Haytor following on Thursday (December 2).
The exhibitions and gallery spaces at Princetown remain closed for the time being.
People will be able to speak with information advisers and buy Christmas gifts including cards and games, Dartmoor Range products, maps, guides and books.
One way systems will be in place and there will be limits on the amounts of people being able to go into the centres at any one time.
This will help people socially distance easily and keep staff safe too.
The visitor centres are accredited to Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ standard meaning people can be assured they are adhering to public health guidance. Measures are under constant review, in line with Government regulations and guidelines.
Dartmoor National Park Authority’s visitor services manager Rebecca Martin said: ‘We’re delighted to reopen and welcome people back.
‘It’s a great time for people to visit. We’ve spent a lot of time making sure the centres have safety measures in place to protect staff and customers, but that they also remain welcoming places where people can buy gifts, guides and presents. They are looking lovely and festive with decorations up and special Christmas retail lines too.
‘Our friendly Information Advisors are on hand to answer any questions or offer recommendations and we look forward to seeing people back in our centres.’
Normal opening hours are 10am to 3pm on the following days:
Haytor: Thursday – Sunday
Postbridge: Saturday – Wednesday
Princetown: Wednesday – Sunday.
All centres will be open daily during the school holidays, apart from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
