BLACK swan patriarch Bert is causing trouble in Dawlish again.

As the expectant dad awaits the hatching of his latest brood, he is behaving in a territorial manner towards his previous offspring.

The young cygnets have been temporarily relocated to the waterfowl centre on Brunswick Place.

Dawlish Waterfowl Wardens explained: ‘We have had an enormous amount of reports this week of the little ones getting trapped at the bottom of The Brook.

‘Apparently Bert is to blame.

‘He has been chasing them down stream and trapping them at the bottom.

‘This is just what Bert does as he is already focused on the new eggs and has been clearing The Brook around the nesting area.

‘We felt it was in the best interest of the cygnets to move them inside until things settled down.’
