‘A LOVELY’ morning was had by all at Teignmouth Farmers Market as the popular stallholders’ celebrated the market’s eighth birthday.

Among those attending were Teignmouth Mayor, Cllr Ian Palmer, and Mayoress, Jackie Palmer.

They said: ‘We had a lovely morning at the Farmers’ Market for their 8th birthday celebration.

‘We were giving out free cupcakes to their customers that were supplied by, Pat a Cakes.’

Iain woke the area up with his ‘getting everyone’s attention’ speech.

He was also asked to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to a party sat outside, The Lemon Tree restauraunt.

Ian laughed afterward: ‘There was a lot of laughter involved so I think they enjoyed it.

‘Then we moved onto a walk about the town and seafront meeting lots of people on holiday, and having plenty of selfies with the mayor.

‘Plus catching up with our Eastcliff Cafe customers who like to stop for a chat, in some areas they form an orderly queue.

‘We managed to talk to some of the business owners, some just got a wave if they were busy.

‘Generally we we’re out having a great day.’

It has been a very busy summer for The Mayor and mayoress Iain and Jackie Palmer.

They say they have enjoyed a varied amount of official duties, and still more to come.
