A mouthy moggy was at the centre of a top level inquiry after a councillor's complaints about its constant caterwauling, writes Ellen Grindley.
Comments about the crying cat made by Manaton parish council chairman Cllr Julian Tope sparked an official complaint about his conduct by the cat's owner.
Senior Teignbridge Council officers were called in to investigate the allegations by Manaton resident John Beale that Cllr Tope had brought the council into disrepute with his remarks.
But after an inquiry by Teignbridge Council's monitoring officer, Cllr Tope was cleared of any wrongdoing.
