The crowds came out in force for this year's Lustleigh Show on Bank Holiday Monday, (August 26) and were treated to amazing summer sunshine alongside all the entertainments on offer.
The traditional show, which has been running since 1887, boasted the return of a number of popular activities, including the Lustleigh Tug-of-War competition, won this year by the Brookfield Bashers.
It also saw other traditional games like the Greasy Pole make a comeback, giving losers a much-needed break from the heat with a quick dip in the pool.
The Lustleigh 10k took place alongside the show, and the winner was Rory Barclay-Watt from Exeter Harriers, who completed the course in 36:23. The fastest female was Amy Jones, who crossed the line in 45:16.
Show Chairman, Jon Coleman said "It was great to have such a busy and well-received show this year, and we were delighted to bring back some of the traditional entertainments that people love at country shows."
The show had its biggest ever entry field of classic vehicles, with over sixty cars and tractors displaying. The winning car was a 1932 Morgan Supersports R type owned by Roger Davies, and the classic tractor of the day was a very rare 1965 Massey Ferguson 2130 owned by Bob Atter.
Lustleigh Garden Society hosted the traditional and well-supported horticultural show, whilst out in the main showground people were taking part in activities from axe throwing to circus skills.
Attendees have flooded to social media to praise the show, with dozens of comments on their Facebook page.
Next year's event will once again be on Bank Holiday Monday on 25 August 2025
