A NEWTON Abbot man has been sent for trial at the crown court on a charge of attempted malicious wounding.

Zakarie Mosam, aged 20, of Lower French Park, is charged that at Market Street in Newton Abbot he attempted to unlawfully and maliciously wound Jared Lacey with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

He is also charged with possessing a bladed article, a Stanley knife, without good reason or lawful authority.

South and West Devon Magistrates' Court sent him for trial at Exeter Crown Court on February 24.

He was granted unconditional bail.
