COUNCIL staff have been out to visit the unauthorised Travellers’ camp set up at Sandringham Park at Buckland.

There have been many comments on social media about the caravans and vans there.

A spokesperson for Teignbridge Council said: ‘Our staff have visited the site and spoken with people at the unauthorised encampment.

’We have provided a number of wheelie bins for waste and will be monitoring the site over the coming days’

Responding on their Facebook page to calls to remove the Travellers, Newton Abbot Police said: ‘We are well aware of the travelling community who have pitched up in Buckland, the ownership in removing them sits with Teignbridge Council not the police but we are working in close partnership with them.

‘We have responded to a small number of incidents already.’
