TEIGNBRIDGE planners have refused an application to build homes on part of Aller Copse.

The application, submitted to the council by Mr Stuart Lacey, sought to permission for two dwellings on land adjacent to 25 Lower Fern Road, Newton Abbot.

Submitted to the council in September, the application received a raft of objections, including from Newton Abbot Town Council.

Refusing the application, Teignbridge said the loss of trees, many of which are protected by Tree Protection Orders, would have a ‘detrimental impact upon the woodland and the character of the area.’

Furthermore, the council said that the design of the proposed homes would not ‘integrate well into the street scene and would create an alien feature’ and that the applicant had supplied ‘insufficient information’ to determine if the proposal would result in an increased flood risk.
