Scores of folk music lovers came to St James’ Church in Teignmouth on Saturday (April 27) for a concert to launch a CD that will raise funds for the town’s annual Folk Festival.

The audience were treated to a wide variety of folk-related music and song, ranging from up-tempo, contemporary, self -written material to traditional French songs. Eleven of the fifteen local acts featured on the CD performed at the concert.

Organisers hope the concert will also raise the profile of the folk festival, which will this year take place between Friday June 21 and Sunday June 23.

A further fundraising event, a ceilidh / barn dance featuring 'Fiddling Fish' with caller Debs Rendell, is being held at the Richard Newton Hall in Teignmouth at 7:30pm on Saturday May 18.

Further information regarding the CD, ceilidh and the 2024 festival can be found at the Teignmouth Folk Festival website: www.teignmouthfolkfestival.co.uk and on the Festival’s Facebook page.
