A MAN who assaulted two police officers has been placed on a community order.
Steven David Simmons (AKA Greenwood and who also has an alias of Steven Dooley), aged 45, of Holdsworth Avenue, Warminster, Dorset, changed his plea to guilty of assaulting PC Parker by beating him in Tudor Road, Newton Abbot.
A community order was made that he must complete up to 25 activity days. He was also fined £108. He was ordered to pay £150 compensation, Crown Prosecution Service costs of £135 and to pay £114 to fund victim services.
South and West Devon Magistrates said: ‘The court finds that the offence was aggravated by being committed against an emergency worker acting in the exercise of functions as such.’
He also changed his plea to guilty to assaulting PC Finch and he must pay £100 compensation.
