A GP from Cheriton Bishop has completed an epic charity cycle ride from Exeter to Bari in southern Italy two days ahead of schedule.
Dr Jason Clunie retired from the Cheriton Bishop and Teign Valley Practice on May 31 and decided to celebrate by undertaking the challenge to raise money for Acorn Community Support.
The trip has been eventful: Dr Clunie’s cycling partner was forced to pull out after falling off his bike and fracturing his hip in France; and the weather conditions have varied from searing 39-degree heat to snow, torrential rain, thunderstorms and lightening to freezing winds.
Dr Clunie hopes to raise £10,000 for Acorn Community Support, a volunteer-led charity that organises social trips, lunch clubs, coffee groups and a memory café in and around Cheriton Bishop and the Teign Valley.
He is currently just short of the total, so anyone who wants to donate are invited to visit: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jason-clunie-1715166769994
