A CHARITY fundraising ball held at the Keyberry Hotel in Newton Abbot has raised £2,500 for the Torbay Breast Care Unit, the cheque for which was presented on Monday, September 5.

The money raised from the ball, which was organised by landlady Lyn Wykes as well as Christine and Paul Blamey, will be used to fund items and programmes not routinely provided by the NHS.

Christine, herself a former patient at the Breat Care Unit, said: ‘It was nice to give something back to the unit so other patients can benefit from the proceeds.’

Lyn said: ‘It was nice for the community to come together in this present climate.’

Clinical Service Lead, Miss Donna Egbeare, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon said: ‘We [the Breast Care Unit] are extremely grateful for the fundraising, especially when we know that finances are challenged at the moment.

‘We are very grateful to all those people who supported the evening; donated raffle or auction prizes and to those who dug deep on the night – the money really will make a difference.’

Present at the cheque presentation were consultant Donna Egbeare, practise manager Nicky Warr, Kerberyry landlady Lyn Wykes, Christine and Paul Blamey and several nurses from the Breast Care Unit.
