Paddington Bear knows a thing or two about marmalade.
For instance, it is Marmalade Day at the Teignmouth Farmers’ Market this Saturday, January 28, between 10am and 2pm.
This iconic preserve will be featured at Shute Fruit and Produce’s stall where Lori’s award winning marmalade can be bought.
But did you know a spoonful of the golden stuff enlivens a Bread and Butter Pudding that you can make with bread from Bread of Devon? Or enhance your pheasant from Stanbury’s Game with a Sticky Marmalade Glaze. It also works on gammon or sausages from Beardon Farm’s trailer. Get the potatoes to mash with your banger from Shillingford Organic.
Pat a Cake bakers will be adding lashings of the orange stuff to flavour their Flapjacks and cakes, too. Meanwhile Red Earth stall will keep us guessing where she puts the citrus with her luscious savoury pastries.
Seville oranges are only in season for a short time, so make the most of their zingy, sunny flavours to enliven your January menu. Awaken to toast in the morning with a vibrant slather of marmalade. The Teignmouth Farmers’ Market is in The Triangle, Teignmouth Town centre every last Saturday of the month.
