THIS year marks the 150th anniversary of the Salvation Army and on Saturday Newton Abbot had a Big Birthday Celebration at its Union Street citadel.

Among those attending were the Newton Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris and the mayor of Newton Abbot Cllr Mike Ryan, accompanied by the mayoress Lin Ryan. They were given a book on the history of the Salvation Army as a thank you gift.
