POWDERHAM Castle’s walled garden is to feature on national TV tonight.

BBC Gardener’s World will see presenter and horticulturalist Frances Tophill visit the historic castle’s garden.

She spent the day there seeing how part of the garden has been transformed into a productive growing space.

On Instagram, she wrote: ‘I am your host for @gardenersworldtv for the first time this year.

‘And rather than being in my garden, I will be hosting it from my really good friend’s community project and CSA at Powderham Castle in Devon.

‘It feels really lovely to be working with a friend and showcasing the kinds of projects that give so much back to the community and people in it.

‘As ever it’s slightly nerve wracking to do something new and slightly different so I really hope everybody likes it.

‘For me it’s hide behind the sofa time again but I hope those of you who join us tomorrow at 8pm on BBC 2 all enjoy it. See you there.’

As well as a popular TV presenter on shows including Gardener’s World and Love Your Garden, Frances is currently head gardener and grower at Sharpham Trust.

An author, environmentalist, conservationist, she moved to the south edge of Dartmoor in 2023 and has recently published a book on her experiences of creating her own small garden.
