FAMILIES flocked to Bishopsteignton Family Fun Day, raising almost £700 for Rowcroft Hospice and to help fund a Scouts’ trip to Poland.
Highlight of the day was a meet and greet by Paw Patrol characters Chase, Marshall and Skye.
Beaver Scout leader, Fiona McGinn, organised the event following the death of a friend.
Seven of the 1st Bishopsteignton Scouts are attending the European Scout jamboree in Gdansk, Poland in 2020 and have to raise £1,500 each for the two week trip.
Fiona explained: ‘My friend, Claire Cassidy, who was only 36, recently passed away in Rowcroft from pancreatic cancer, where she was extremely well looked after in her last days and I wanted to do something to say thank you.
‘Claire would have been 37 this weekend and she had hoped to be able to come to the day.
‘My daughter is also one of the seven Scouts selected for the Poland jamboree so it seemed sensible to raise funds for both.’
The fun day raised £684.08 overall and had families enjoying a barbecue, stalls, treasure island, tombola, cakes and refreshments.
