COUNCILLORS in Dawlish have voted to support the re-opening of the town’s police office.
An office operated in Brunswick Street but has been closed for some years.
Now town councillors have agreed to write to the police and crime commissioner to support re-opening the facility.
There is currently a public consultation with the public being asked to complete a survey with their views. Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez announced a survey asking which offices should open.
She said since the reopening of six such offices across the force which had previously been closed, such as in Newton Abbot, she was ‘committed’ to opening more of the ‘front desks’.
She said they ‘improve public contact with the force’.
A survey is asking members of the public and organisations to give views on which should open next.
