THERE has been a big surge in holiday home lettings in Teignmouth.
According to new data from Holidaylettings.co.uk, the resort has seen a 43.75 per cent year-on-year rise in interest.
And in neighbouring Dawlish there has been an even bigger increase – 84.93 per cent.
Jack Johnson, spokesman for holiday lettings, which carried out the survey, said that in recent years there has been a growing demand for less well-known areas across the whole of Devon.
‘While places like Torquay and Plymouth continue to be as popular as ever, we’ve discovered that some other destinations, including Teignmouth, are becoming more popular.
‘And with demand for holiday homes in these blossoming locations at an all-time high, the message is clear that homeowners may be sitting on a potential goldmine.
‘It’s a really simple process to let out your house and the income generated can be substantial.
‘If you’re a homeowner you could potentially capitalise on this trend by renting out your homes to others while you’re away yourself.’
