Trago Mills is to announce details of a major new development at its Newton Abbot store at 10am today (September 28).

A £3m expansion to the store’s current DIY section, including a focus on trade customers, is set to open in Spring 2017. Planning permission was given in 2015 for the project. It will be constructed on the site of the Trago2Clear building, which closed during the summer in preparation.

A ‘turf cutting’ ceremony this morning will include the company’s chairman Bruce Robertson; leader of Teignbridge District Council Jeremy Christophers; and Brian Rice, operations director of Kier Construction which is carrying out the building work.

A Trago Mills spokesman said: ‘Kier has been appointed to deliver the exciting new facility. The building design incorporates some of the distinctive architecture for which Trago is famous.’
