A TALE of high drama and romance is the theme of a book launched tonight at the Edgemoor Hotel, Bovey Tracey.
Set against the backdrop of World War Two, Captain and Mrs Jones tells the story of a secret agent working behind enemy lines for the Special Operations Executive and his courageous wife who helped Allied airmen in German-occupied Paris.
Amazingly, it is a true story, brought to life by local writer and historian Chris Robillard.
Chris found out about the story when he was approached by Anthony Jones, the son of Sydney and his wife Rose Marie.
Through research they have pieced together this gripping wartime story which remarkably only came to light a couple of years ago after a mysterious document from MI5 dropped on the doorstep of Anthony’s home in Marldon, Paignton.
Chris and Anthony will be at the Bovey Tracey launch to answer questions and sign copies of the book from 6pm.
