The local craft shop with lots to do. Pom Stitch Tassels reflects Bovey’s rich history with craft by opening their doors to the Highstreet.
This year they are celebrating 5 years in Devon, October being their 10th month in Bovey Tracey.
Before moving to Bovey Pom Stitch Tassels was hidden away above shops on Queen Street, in newton abbot, making it hard to connect with the locals.
Emma said there is a definite difference being on the Highstreet. It welcomes people to come into the shop and encourages a more personal relationship.
She said: ‘Bovey is quite crafty, especially with the craft festival, we attend every year running workshops and we have stalls.
‘There isn’t a great deal to do with children in the area, we’ve really opened up services and things to do for children in the holidays and other educational activities that aren’t sports.’
The store raised money for the mental health charity ‘Mind’ over summer by doing a craft-a-noon. Emma values the local community and runs free trails around town for children to follow during the half term, offering sweets or other treats once the trail is completed.
‘It’s a very lovely community and the town is too.’
