LITERATURE-LOVING Kingsteignton shoppers have raised £30,000 for three life-saving charities.

For the past 12 years, retired Tesco colleagues have been running a bookstall at the Kingsteignton Superstore each Friday to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

The initiative supports Tesco’s Health Charity Partnership campaign, which raises money for the three charities so that they can continue their vital work to improve and save lives.

Janette Parker, the store’s Community Champion, said: ‘Our selfless former colleagues have been selling second-hand books donated by Tesco customers for all these years, and to now reach the landmark figure of £30,000 is fantastic.

‘I would like to thank all our generous customers and colleagues who have supported the bookstall.

‘I’m looking forward to seeing how much more money it can raise for these three incredible charities.'
