Residents in Chudleigh Knighton will be able to sit in comfort thanks to the efforts of a local volunteer.
Bob Harris has given a bench near the heath a new lease of life, twelve years after repairing the seat after it was vandalised.

‘This time I’ve restored it using proper outdoor treated timber,’ he said. ‘So it should last a lot longer because last time I used timber that wasn’t designed for use outside,’ he added.

By volunteering his time and skills, Bob has saved Hennock Parish Council hundreds of pounds with the revamped bench costing just £72.20 for the wood, parts and paint.
‘He’s done a fantastic job,’ a spokesperson from Hennock Parish Council said.
Bob said he enjoys volunteering and does lots of odd jobs around the village.
