BUCKFAST and Buckfastleigh had a blooming successful time as they gained major recognition in RHS Britain in Bloom competitions.
The flowery event recognises the contributions made by voluntary groups to the local environment and have five levels of awards, starting at one, which is establishing, to five, which is outstanding.
The winners were announced at a presentation ceremony at Somerset County Cricket Club ground in Taunton, with Lord and Lady Fellowes of West Stafford presenting the awards.
Both Buckfast and Buckfastleigh had 10 entries, which attracted more than 500.
The Guides Garden Crest Hill and St Luke’s Church were placed at level three, which is advancing, with Fore Street, Hamlyn’s Way, The Millennium Green and The Wild Garden bagging the thriving category.
Barn Park, Food-4-Ever, Buckfast Abbey and South Devon Railway scooped up Level 5, which is outstanding.
