Widecombe Community Hall CIO, which is overseeing the construction of a new community hall in the parish of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, hosted the popular event on Sunday, April 2.

Blue, red and yellow ducks, bought for £2 a piece or three for five pounds sterling, were cast into the leat in the afternoon.

A spokesman for Widecombe Community Hall CIO said: ‘What a beautiful day we had for our Duck Race.

‘It was a lovely afternoon and thank you to everyone who came and had fun.

‘We raised a splendid £700.

‘Thank you to all those who made cakes, ran the stalls, donated prizes, set everything up and put it all away again, and of course for fishing the ducks out of the water after each race!’
