ONE of the stars of the Great British Bake-Off series is expected to be a judge at a similar event organised by Teignmouth lifeboat fundraisers.
Glen Cosby (below), a former teacher at Teignmouth Community School, who left to begin a new career in cooking after his TV success, will be one of four judges at the event at the Methodist Church Hall in Somerset Place on Saturday, October 10.
Supporting him as judges will be Chris Houghton from Luders in The Triangle, and two of the lifeboat crew – Charlie Woolner and Derek Davies.
Kerry Webber, one of the organisers, said they decided on four judges to ensure all the entries were judged from different viewpoints.
‘We had Chris to keep the competition Teignmouth focused; the lifeboat lads to remind us why we are doing it; and Glen to lend a celebrity gloss and an impartial element.’
Cakes will be taken to the hall between noon and 2pm. Then, after a quick photo call with the winners, there will be a sale of the cakes.
