A BUNCH of community-minded youngsters joined forces with two Newton Abbot councillors at the weekend in a bid to spruce-up the town.
Eight enthusiastic police cadets embarked on the mission with district councillor Jackie Brodie, town councillor Mike Joyce and PCSO Anthony Wilson (pictured).
They blitzed through Courtenay Park, Osborne Park, the Queen Street area and along the River Lemon – collecting a huge amount of litter.
Cllr Brodie said: ‘They did a great job.
‘The weather wasn’t the best, it was very windy with spells of rain. But nonetheless we picked up a huge amount of litter.
‘The areas looked much better afterwards.
‘It has been a while since I have organised a litter-pick but I hope to make them a bit more regular, and hope others will join us.’
Cllr Brodie urged anyone considering starting their own litter-pick and needs a bit of help to get in touch with her.
