ASHBURTON’S carnival royalty has been crowned and is all ready for the town’s carnival procession tomorrow night.
Emily Rose Adams is carnival queen, with her two attendants Daisy Lewis and Leah Everson and princess Millie Hestleton.
The royal party (pictured) was officially crowned last Sunday during the town’s carnival fete.
Mayor Cllr Sarah Parker-Khan said: ‘It was fantastic. The weather was brilliant and the turn out was fantastic
‘We had lots of fun and entertainment and lots of community groups, including the WI and British Legion there. It was a real community event.
‘It was a really nice social event as well as a fundraiser for the carnival and charity.’
The fete raised £650 for the carnival coffers. The carnival bingo this week also raised £650, and more funds came from the carnival quiz and darts final.
The fun continues in Ashburton with the ‘party in the park’ at the recreation ground tonight, (June 30) including children’s entertainer, tug-o-war, live band, bar and barbecue.
Mayor Parker-Khan said: ‘This year there’s no charge for entry, just make a donation at the door.
‘Come along and join in the fun of what’s happening in Ashburton.’
The full carnival procession is tomorrow (July 1), starting at 6.30pm at Balland Lane. There’s a post procession party in the town, with live music, bar, barbecue and fireworks until late.
