THIS year will see the 24th annual Artex exhibition at Buckfast Abbey organised by Ashburton & Buckfastleigh Rotary club, writes Sandie Perraton.

Once again the club would like to express grateful thanks to the Abbey for allowing us to hold the exhibition in the Abbey Guest Hall.

This year the Art exhibition, which as usual, provides free admission to the public, will be held  from Thursday, July 27, to Saturday, August 12, during which the Abbey will be holding their annual fair from August 3 to August 5.

Entries for this year are already full, comprising 318 original paintings by 72 artists, all of which will be hung over the two floors of the Guest Hall...  There will be a further 127 unframed original pieces of art and 1462 cards from a number of the artists.  

The exhibition was full within two weeks and with a waiting list of eight artists at present.  This is the quickest the exhibition has been filled.

There will be a raffle draw for an original painting by Diana Lewis from East Ogwell.

Last year’s charities benefitted from almost £7,000 raised. This year’s chosen charities are Shelterbox, Lymphoma Action, Macmillan Cancer support and other local charities that Ashburton & Buckfastleigh Rotary club support.
