ARTIST Becky Bettesworth visited Rydon Primary School at the end of their art week.
Becky, who lives in south Devon and is famed for her vintage seaside posters, joined children and parents to view a gallery of work created during the week.
Emily Hadley, art leader at the school, said: ‘Becky enjoyed looking at the art in our exhibition and talking to children about their achievements.
‘She spoke to Key Stage One children about life as an artist and what inspires her work.’
Emily said the art week was designed to promote art and embrace creativity across the whole school, with all teachers and classes involved in activities.
She added: ‘Each child had a chance to explore different famous artists throughout the week and create their own amazing pieces of art.
‘Art work was based on a broad spectrum of artists including Henri Rousseau, Joan Miro, Andy Goldsworthy and local artist Becky Bettesworth.
‘The event was deemed a great success and created an exciting buzz about art around school.
‘It culminated in a very special exhibition when we transformed our school hall into an art gallery and invited family and friends, and Becky, to join us.’
Much of the artwork created during the week can be seen on Instagram at #rydonprimaryschool. The account is called creativerydonartweek2016.
