FRIDAY, July 22, saw the team from leading Newton Abbot delicatessen, the Plot, and members of the local Heritage Party branch host a private opening for a fundraising art project that will run for a month.
This event is part of a series of exhibitions that have been held in galleries in London, Venice, and Warsaw in the past.
The theme for this exhibition, which was curated by Madeleine Hunt, is 'Animals and Nature', with the aim of raising funds for the Gables, a charity that provides a home for dogs and cats. The event showcased the works of several local artists, including Julia Finzel, Sarah Brown, Madeleine Hunt, Lisa Goudie, Sophie Harding, and many more besides.
The private preview evening was attended by invited guests, and some sales and donations were made.
In addition to the impressive art displayed on the gallery walls, there is a large canvas inviting the public to contribute to a collective art piece.
Organisers welcome all artists to bring their work to The Plot deli and their new fundraising gallery over the next few weeks.
The submission is free of charge, and there is no commission from sales. However, artists are kindly asked to donate a chosen amount from any sold items towards the Gables dogs and cats home charity.
This is the first of many events planned to be held at The Plot deli gallery, with future shows also aimed at fundraising for animal charities.
There are a number of projects already established in the gallery's future events calendar, including a solo exhibition of a highly renowned guest artist.
