FLAMINGOS, penguins, owls and parrots are just a few of the animals set to make appearances in Newton Abbot town centre next week.

Youngsters from eight of the town’s primary schools have been hard at work creating impressive animal lanterns ahead of Wednesday night’s parade.

The annual festive procession, led by a samba band, will set off from Bearnes Primary School in Queen Street at 6.30pm and make its way through to St Leonard’s Clock Tower.

A street fair – featuring stalls, music and entertainment – will also be taking place in the town from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
