DAWLISH Against Plastic recently met the team from Absolute PR and Marketing for a beach clean on Dawlish Warren.
An impressive total of 11.38kg of non-recyclable waste and 0.58kg of recyclable material was collected, as well as reusable beach buckets and spades which were found abandoned on the beach. These were placed in Teignbridge District Council’s new beach toy library, which is on the sea wall near the RNLI station, for others to use.
Vanessa Ryley, Chair of Dawlish Against Plastic, said: ‘It’s always a pleasure when local businesses approach us to help organise a beach clean. Absolute PR and Marketing, based in Dunchideock, brought along client Guy Frankland, from Valeport, and together, eight of us removed nearly 12 kgs of rubbish from Dawlish Warren.’
Rachael Whitson, managing director and founder of Absolute PR and Marketing, said: ‘Team Absolute were thrilled to get involved in collecting waste from Dawlish Warren. Sustainability is at the heart of our business, and we are passionate about having a positive impact on our local community. Dave and Vanessa from Dawlish Against Plastic were wonderful hosts.
‘We learnt a lot from them about the types of plastic regularly found along the South West coastline and how microplastics pose the biggest threat to marine life. We are proud to be supporting their cause to reduce the impact of single-use plastic on the environment.’
