POLICE sealed off a section of the A380 into Newton Abbot this afternoon amid fears a man might jump from the Humber Bridge.

Officers rushed to the scene – between the Hestow bridge and the footbridge to Buckland near the Penn Inn roundabout - just after 1pm when the man, in his 40s, was spotted on the wrong side of the structure.

All traffic was immediately re-routed as the busy highway was shut down in an effort to persuade the man to climb down from his precarious perch.

Police are still at the scene now at 3.15pm.
