AS the year starts to head full circle numerous events that mark the end of summer and the start of the winter season have been taking place around Teignbridge.

Cockwood’s Anchor Inn pulled out all the stops for their ever popular spooktacular Halloween event with imaginative fancy dress being the order of the night, and the village of Abbotskersell lit up the night skies with a fantastic firework display last weekend.

This annual spectacular was a charity event and helps to raise funds for the upkeep of Abbotskerswell's recreation area and new projects.

Meanwhile in Teignmouth the Folk Preservation Society turned back the clock to the dim and distant past with a Samhain celebration - a Celtic agricultural festival that marks the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter.

Members processed through the town with an entourage of beasts to the mouth of the River Teign where a sunset dusking ceremony was held.
