FIRECREWS from Teignbridge dealt with two early morning call outs today (Friday, February 5).
At just after 6.30am both pumps from Newton Abbot, along with a third appliance from Torquay, headed to Cross Hill at Netherton after fire control received a call from a member of the public about a fire involving a wood beam above a log burner.
The fire was believed to have been within the cavity and crews got to work cutting away to asses the fire spread and used a thermal imaging camera, a snake eye camera, small tools, fog spike and one jet to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental.
Just over an hour later at 7.30am crews from Buckfasteigh responded to a call from an automatic alarm centre indicating a fire at a property in Coronation Road, Totnes.
Along with their colleagues from Paignton and Totnes, plus Torquay’s aerial platform ladder, crews located the fire in a rear bedroom on the second floor of the property and got to work with two breathing apparatus , two jets and small tools to put out the fire.
The fire is believed to have been caused by overheating of electrical cables.
