A SWIMMER has thanked rescuers for helping when she was injured at Dawlish Warren beach.
Dawn Clark was helped by a lifeguard who stayed with her until paramedics arrived after the accident on Sunday.
She said: ‘A huge thank to the lifeguard for staying and holding my head until paramedics arrived.
‘To the lady who supplied padding for my wound, the fireman named Sam from Sheffield, who gave up his free time and coastguards.
‘You were all amazing. Thank you so much.’
She slipped on the wall near the ramp after a swim and banged her head.
She told well-wishers on social media: ‘I am now back home with eight staples in my head and resting.’
She suffered a 5cm gash to her head in the incident and was treated in hospital.
She said: ‘It’s thanks to the professionals on the day I am doing okay. It was frightening, but they really made me feel that I would recover.’
