A car was completely destroyed by fire after being torched in lanes just outside Denbury early today.
Firefighters from Newton Abbot dealt with the blazing BMW between Ipplepen Cross and Newton Cross, about a mile-and-a-half away from the Two Mile Oak.
The alarm was raised by a local resident just after 3am.
A fire spokesman said: ‘We could see the car ablaze from quite a distance. It was well alight.’
He said no one was with the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police were informed amid suspicions the fire was probably deliberate.
A hosereel jet was used to extinguish the flames.
