THINKING of heading out on the roads? Well, DON’T.

That’s the stark message from Devon and Cornwall Police today after one of the worst winter storms in decades.

Hundreds on motorists were stranded on roads last night (Thursday March 1st) with emergency rescue centres being set up in Kenn and Chudleigh.

A police spokesman said: "With temperatures still hovering around freezing point the snow has frozen making driving conditions are still treacherous."

"Our advice is still that people shouldn’t travel and to stay indoors"

Power supplies have also been hit with reports of properties in Teignmouth without electricity.

Exeter Airport has no flight inboard and outbound flights and public transport has been severely effected

Trains are also affected with Network Rail reporting storm damage to the line at Dawlish . An assessment on the damage is due to take place later today.
