TWO fire crews from Teignmouth didn’t have far to travel to a call out late this afternoon (Friday Dec 1st).

Just after 4pm Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received calls about smoke coming from a toilet block on Teignmouth Railway Station - just a stone’s throw from the town’s fire station.

Two Teignmouth pumps were duly dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found flames and smoke issuing from the toilets.

Said a DFRS spokesman : “Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which severely damaged the interior of the toilet block"

The incident has been left in the hands of the police.
