POLICE have closed Torquay Road in Kingskerswell this morning after winds from Storm Eunice ripped off roofs.
Felt from the flat roofs of two properties landed in the middle of the road as the storm continues to batter the region.
Fire crews were quickly on the scene to secure the roofing which had come off a hairdressers and and estate agents buildings.
Resident Michael Riley could see the damage from his home nearby.
He told the Mid Devon Advertiser: ‘We heard this big crash sound and at first thought there had been some kind of accident.
‘Then we looked out of the window and could see the flat roof from the building had completely blown off and was in the road.
‘The police have now closed the road.’
TREES
Scores of trees and branches have fallen victim to the storm force winds.
Two trees came down blocking Denbury Road.
Branches were strewn across Ashburton Road, Newton Abbot. These have now been cleared.
A large tree is down at the junction of Clay Pitt’s Way and Clay Lane between Kingsteignton and Chudleigh.
A large tree came down covering half the road at Tesco at Kingsteignton near the entrance to Newton Abbot Racecourse.

One motorist reported there is now petrol available at Haldon due to a power cut.
