AN illegal rave, which saw around 1,000 people flock to Dartmoor, was shut down by police officers.

Ravers descended on Bellever during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Chief Inspector Richard Hooper-Bennett said: ‘At this time we have had no arrests or any vehicles or sound equipment seized.

‘I would like to thank the local people of Postbridge for their patience.’

The police managed to clear the area by early evening and a police presence stayed in place for several hours after.
