A drug taking party lover who turned her hobby into a business has been jailed after she was stopped on a delivery trip to Teignmouth.
Kelly Moore was caught with £700 worth of cocaine and £6,800 worth of ketamine and messages on her phone showed she was also selling cannabis and diazepam.
She was intercepted by police as she came off the A380 at Ashcombe as she drove from her home in South Wales to deliver the drugs to a buyer in Teignmouth.
She was driving the Ford Fiesta and a young friend was sitting in the passenger seat, under which police recovered the box full of drugs.
Moore got involved in the party scene after escaping from a long term abusive relationship and became a heavy user of ketamine. She started selling to friends and diversified to other drugs as the business grew.
Shop worker Moore, aged 40, of Corelli Street, Newport, Gwent, admitted possession of cocaine and ketamine with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of ketamine, cannabis and diazepam.
She was jailed for two years and three months by Judge David Evans at Exeter Crown Court, who ordered the confiscation of £6,000 from her bank account.
He told her: ‘It seems this was your own mid-market retail operation and you were arrested as you were transporting a quantity of class A and B drugs across the country.
‘I take into account in your favour the significant steps you have taken to address the lifestyle which led to these offences. It was a lifestyle attributed to a sense of relief following a previous abusive relationship.’
Mr Lee Bremridge, prosecuting, said Moore was stopped at Ashcombe on her way to Teignmouth on August 31, 2017, with 172 grams of high purity ketamine worth up to £6,800 and 6.89 grams of cocaine worth about £700.
Messages on her phone showed she had been dealing in various drugs for a couple of months and had made at least one previous delivery to the South West.
Mr Adrian Chaplin, defending, said Moore came out of a long term abusive relationship and used her new found freedom to enjoy a lifestyle in which she went to parties and took large amounts of ketamine.
She got drawn into dealing in ketamine but her involvement with selling cocaine was very limited. She has used the two years since her arrest to change her lifestyle, tackle her drug problem, and work hard.
