FIRE crews from Teignmouth and Dawlish were called out to a two vehicle collision near Ashcombe this afternoon (Wednesday September 30).
Emergency services responded to the incident at Colley Lane Cross just before 5pm following reports of a two vehicle crash with a person believed trapped in one of the vehicles.
A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ’On arriving at the scene crews found a young male still inside one of the vehicles and set up stabilisation and worked with paramedics to carry out the rescue.’
‘Crews used small tools to create space to access the casualty in order to remove them from the vehicle.’
The casualty was finally safely released by fire and ambulance crews and was conveyed to hospital via ambulance.
Firefighters also used dry powder and carbon dioxide extinguishers to ensure no fire and left duty of care with the police.
