FIREFIGHTERS used their rescue skills to help a lost tourist whose car ended up on an embankment and dangerously perched on just two wheels in a country lane at Torbryan.
The luckless visitor contrived to manoeuvre the vehicle to its curious position in Moor Road just after 1pm yesterday.
A crew from Newton Abbot answered the 999 shout - but the emergency response was not without its difficulties because the stranded motorist was not sure exactly where he was.
A fire spokesman said: ‘Our control operator and the crew worked with the caller to gradually narrow down his location until the vehicle was found.’
The spokesman explained: ‘The tourist had accidentally reversed their car up an embankment on a narrow country lane, resulting in it tilting in a precarious position on top of the embankment.’
Firefighters were able to stabilise the car before towing it back safely on to the highway.
All occupants were free of the vehicle by the time their rescuers arrived.
It’s thought the family involved had been let down by their sat nav.
