RODS and a stirrup pump were used to tackle a chimney blaze on the edge of Manaton over the weekend.
Firefighters from Moretonhampstead dealt with the incident late yesterday afternoon at Ebworthy.
They removed the register plate and insulation of a wood burning stove to extinguish the flames.
The alarm was raised just before 5.30pm.
