FIRE crews from Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey helped put out a fire that completely destroyed a 4x4 vehicle yesterday (Tuesday).
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: ‘We received a call from a member of the public reporting a 4x4 vehicle on fire on a bridleway near Ridge Road, Netherton.
‘One fire appliance from Torquay was immediately mobilised by Fire Control.
‘On arrival, the Incident commander confirmed that a 4x4 type vehicle was well alight and due to the difficult access to the vehicle, requested the assistance of another fire appliance and an off road vehicle with a fogging unit.
‘These were sent from Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey.
‘The fire completely destroyed the vehicle. Police were informed as it is thought that the fire may have been started deliberately.’
