One person has been killed and another injured following an incident at an organised vehicle hill climb event on Dartmoor.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the organised event at Clifford Bridge, near Moretonhampstead, shortly before 2.30pm yesterday (Saturday).
A 66 year-old man, thought to be from east Devon, was pronounced dead at the scene while another man was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with injuries
Devon and Cornwall Police sent specialist crash investigators to examine the scene and vehicle. The Health and Safety Executive has also been informed.
A spokesman from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were made aware of a fatal road traffic collision that had taken place in private woodland near to Clifford Bridge, Dunsford at around 2.30pm on Saturday.
"The incident involved a single vehicle which was taking part in an organised hill climb event. As a result of the collision one person died and another was conveyed to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital."
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call the Exeter Serious Collision Investigation Unit on telephone number 101 quoting log number 367 of the 7th January 2017.
