A former prison inmate has denied encouraging a teenaged woman to smuggle drugs into Channings Wood jail in South Devon.
Joe Garland, aged 30, Whitewells Road, Bath, denied two counts of inciting a person to possess drugs with intent to supply when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
He is alleged to have incited 19-year-old Chelsea Bennett to supply the drugs to Channings Wood Prison, near Newton Abbot, between July 19 and 22 last year.
The two charges relate to 21.85 grams of the class A drug crack cocaine and 25.85 grams of the class B drug cannabis.
Bennett, of Chubb Close, Bristol, is due to appear at the same court accused of being concerned in the supply of both drugs.
Judge Timothy Rose set a date for a trial at Exeter later this year and released Garland on bail.
