SEVERAL thousand pounds worth of suspected Class A drugs were found during a raid in Dawlish.

Officers from the pro-active and neighbourhood team executed a warrant on an address in Coronation Avenue on Wednesday.

A spokesman said: ‘A few thousand pounds worth of suspected class A was located alongside evidence of drug supply and preparation.’

One man was arrested and a woman was helping police with their enquiries.

The latest incident follows investigations into the importation of cannabis several weeks ago in Teignmouth.

A search of an address in Higher Woodway Close led to the seizure of 2kg of cannabis.

This has now been revealed to have an approximate value of £20,000 and a man was helping with inquiries.

A spokesman said: ‘It is worth remembering the misuse of drugs is a major factor in the reasons behind violent crime and prolific theft.

‘Drug supply also influences child exploitation.   This is why it is one of our priorities.’
